ARCHITECTURE
STATE-OF-THE ART TECHNOLOGY
STRATIX uses new information age architecture based on industry standard technology for flexible deployment, optimal performance, scalability and effective support. Our products provide a highly reliable environment that maximizes system utilization and provides full disaster recovery options.

RELIABLE & SCALABLE
From the earliest stages of its design, STRATIX has been intended to serve as a highly reliable and scalable software system capable of meeting the business needs of large metal service centers. A great deal of care and effort has gone into ensuring that all aspects of the software architecture meet this fundamental goal.

2nd GENERATION MULTI-TIER CLIENT SERVER
STRATIX is a multi-tier client server application that incorporates a thin-client Windows Graphical User Interface which connects through a transaction processing monitor to a high powered Relational Database engine. The thin client architecture results in most of the business logic being executed at the server level for high reliability and scalability.

USER INTERFACE
The STRATIX user interface is a component-based GUI application executing on the Windows platform. It is designed to be a thin client with essentially only the graphical functions for display and entry of information. The user interface is designed to provide high performance while minimizing the client hardware requirements.

CLIENT ARCHITECTURE
The client requires an underlying operating system of Windows 2000 or Windows XP. STRATIX allows each client PC to run a single STRATIX menu task and multiple client tasks, where each task is a single STRATIX program session. In other words, a user can open up multiple Inquiry tasks and an Order Entry task.

APPLICATION TRANSACTION INTEGRITY
A logical business transaction is encapsulated into an RDBMS transaction for full transactional recovery. In the event of a system failure, this will prevent incomplete transactions in the database. For example, if a general ledger journal entry is being entered, and the debit was entered and the system goes down before the credit is entered, the entire transaction is rolled back. If an invoice is being updated which can update accounts receivable and sales analysis, if the AR is updated and the system goes down before the sales analysis is updated the entire transaction is rolled back.

DEPLOYMENT MODELS
There are two possible models for deploying the STRATIX client: Stand Alone PC or with a Terminal Server. A single STRATIX installation may be comprised of any combination of these deployment schemes based on the requirements of each site.

With the Terminal Server Deployment Model, all programs execute directly on the Terminal Server. Traffic between the Terminal Server and its clients consists only of keystrokes and mouse clicks sent from the client to the Terminal Server and the program's output display being returned minimizing the resources required for the STRATIX client.

REPLICATION AND REPORT GENERATION
Database replication is frequently used to maintain a hot standby system for recovery purposes. STRATIX can be configured to use the replication database for report processing, end user reporting, or OLAP functions in order to maintain a high level of on-line performance from the Primary Server. All document generation requests are handled by the Primary Server, while the database load associated with report generation requests is automatically redirected to the replication database and server.

FAULT TOLERANCE AND DISASTER RECOVERY
The combination of a replication environment with the STRATIX application transaction integrity provides a highly reliable environment that maximizes system utilization and provides full disaster recovery options. This allows our customers to safeguard their business and provides continued operations to ensure complete recovery protection and avoid the significant cost to the business due to system failure.
